BLOOM

"The first edition of Bloom was published during the second spring of the coronavirus pandemic. The name Bloom was chosen as flowers usually resemble rebirth and renewal, which were the emotions most pertinent to the time in which that edition was published. However, flowers resemble more that just those things. Depending on their colours and unique types, flowers can represent everything from death to friendship to joy."

Bloom is UN Women UofT's annual publication.

The vision of bloom is to highlight the themes of the strength, beauty, and resiliency of women.

Our 2025 Theme: Women as a Creative Entity

What are women allowed to write about? Why are conversations about sentimentality, aesthetic experience, and pleasure demmed superficial or lacking in value? This theme centers around gendered limitations manifested in the creative world, delving into how these constraints shape and confine feminine expression - both in terms of its production and subsequent reception.
